Pegnidoupoli playground - A place for everybody! Nicosia

Hello everybody,

On Saturday we had the pleasure of discovering yet another new playground. My kids were really excited! Once they saw the little train in front of the entrance and then all the ducks, the cars, the pony, the bumper cars, the carousel, they were just jumping all over the place trying everything.
I liked it!

Far away from the crowded avenue and very secure, so one should not worry every second, I could just relax and enjoy watching them play. We had been invited to a birthday party so I was quite happy to get there early to take some pictures.

I found all I could wish for in just one place!
The outdoor play area has a nice playground with a slide, a seesaw, kiddy rides, bumper cars and video games. The main attractions for my kids were the little train making a funny noise, the bumper cars (small and easy to drive) and the mini bowling.

The indoor play area is the other attraction at Pegnidoupoli. With two designated areas for big kids and babies, the indoor space is large enough for parties with a large number of guests.

The toddler area has lots of toys from a nice kitchen, to a small slide, climbing area, balls and much more.

Then of course there was the bouncing castle, just jumping up and down!
The space for bigger kids first of all has many, many balls! I believe it’s the biggest balls space that I ever saw along with a slide, climbing areas and tunnels. Needless to say my kids just loved it!

The birthday party was a success. The food was yummy and all the children had plenty of activities to keep them running up and down.
I was there sitting at the table, sipping my coffee and relaxing. I could have wished for nothing more.

We were in a safe and clean environment where my kids happily spent their energy.
Lots of sunny days from Izzy the Cypriot Lizard!

P.S. The playground is very close to the Mall of Cyprus so one could always go to Pegnidoupoli before or after shopping!!!

Agios Efstathios Pexnidotopos outdoor playground in Pano Kivides

Hello everybody,

Going from Limassol – Paphos highway take the exit towards Pano Kivides village. Just at the exit of the village it is a junction and you will see a sign guiding you towards O Pexnidotopos – Agios Efstathios. After a nice driving, for about 4 km, on the beautiful hills of Cyprus with magnificent sea views, you will see on your right the shaded playground of Mr. Toma.
As soon as I stepped in I felt like somebody was opening the gates of his own country house for us. A welcoming breeze, fresh air, grass, trees and flowers is what to expect from this gorgeous place. I could just spend my whole day here, which I just did.

The playground is completely secured. With a very big yard, there are plenty of things for kids, to enjoy a fantastic day outside the city, far away from any noise.
The kids were running away in the slides, jumping in the trampoline, swinging or playing in the seesaw.

I liked it because you can go there no matter the age of the child is. There are animals: donkeys, ostriches, chickens, roosters and a pheasant.  There is a mini football field with clean locker rooms, and balls. Inside there is a pool table, fusball table and other various games.  Also a nice paved pathway so you could walk the stroller and benches to stay closer to the play area.

We loved to stay in the lovely yard having a good Cypriot lunch and drinking a nice cup of coffee. And don’t forget entrance is free!!! Mr. Toma is taking care of all his guests making them feel home!

This place is a heaven for all of you who will like to have nice meetings (mum’s meetings), birthday parties, christenings or just relaxing afternoons between friends.

Fresh air, no cars, gorgeous view, closed area, fresh coffee and food and a nice welcome from our dear friend Toma.

Lots of sunny days from Izzy the Cypriot Lizard!

Evrykhou – The Railways Museum and the Mill

Hello everybody,

A ticket to happiness, a trip in time will bring the present back in the past. Children, parents and grandparents all gathered in a trip back in time that will make them linked in the future. We can stop and wait together for the train. The grandparents will have a tear, the parents a sweet smile, and the children maybe they will not understand it yet… but they will remember one day the moment. One day when they will take the place and they will have the memory of the moment when they did not understand.

Passing the village of Evrykhou I could not believe my eyes that there was a sign towards the Rail station Museum.

I went there to see it. There it was. The rail station. The beauty of the place made me imagine me sitting on the bench and waiting. I could close my eyes and see those people, busy, waiting for the train, luggage, kids running around, people buying tickets. A day in the past.

The rail station in Evrykhou is now new (restored) and has a new road. It is a nice building with only few meters of railways. The trains stopped working. I can hear the sounds of the present.
The Rail station museum is closed for the moment. I would prefer to see kids in the train, parents and grandparents buying tickets, waving hands, even for a short trip around the village.

A conductor telling the story:
“The Cyprus Government Railway was a railway network that has operated in Cyprus from October 1905 to December 1951. With a total length of 76 miles, there were 39 stations, stops and halts, the most prominent of which served Famagusta, Prastio Mesaoria, Angastina, Trakhoni Kythrea, Nicosia, Kokkini Trimithia, Morphou, Kalokhorio Lefka and Evrykhou. The train stopped functioning. It stopped to serve the region. The memory however, remain live, the history records and we, help it to record and keeps the memories live, in order to last in the deterioration of time.
From here the responsibility originates, our duty, to try to change this ruin, not to let it be as it is today, that once was a historical event, the station of Cyprus railway.
For history we report that this building was used in 1932 as a sanitary centre, because of the locality, for the confrontation of contagious illness. Later it was used as a dormitory of forest services and it was destroyed in 1957.
After some efforts of the Community Authorities but also after many publications, the authorization of £ 24.000 was announced–in September 2003, for the restoration of this building”.

Maybe next time...
Evrykhou village is a place to go. To see history, to see the beautiful mill… to breath a new day outside with the children.

Tell a story to your child... he will remember the story…the place … and the peoples.

Lots of sunny days from Izzy the Cypriot Lizard!

Kefalos Beach – That drop of delight on Paphos Beaches

Hello everybody,

Nice afternoon walks by the sea are between the most memorable experiences in Cyprus. You are drowning in a paradise of sounds and sights, peace and tranquility.

Sunset and waves, colors and beauty, water and dreams, you can have it all just taking few steps leaving Paphos Castle behind, on a pathway designed to take you away from the sounds of the city.
On the right side there are the ruins of the ones they let marks on Cyprus, on the left side there is the sea that will always be there: blue, hitting the island in a continuous game.
Running, playing games with the kids, raising the pleasure of walking is the best experience we can have as families. Teach them to perceive, to like and enjoy the small but the most important pleasures of life. This is the place to perceive one of the most beautiful sights of the Paphos lighthouse.

Towards the end of the promenade I had the feeling of an oasis: small houses, trees, flowers and green lawn, nice wooden benches, palm trees, sand.

All this is part of Kefalos Beach Tourist Village. Beautiful arranged space, where we were able to find everything from a nice playground, to a volleyball field, swimming pool, restaurant and a beautiful beach.

The playground is like new, with swings, seesaw, slide, climbing frame and a playhouse. The children were very happy and even after the long walk they still were able to play and climb here.

We enjoyed having a nice dinner with Traditional Cypriot dishes at the Romios Pool Bar. I also would like to add reasonable prices for the beautiful location and good, tasty dinner. Candle lights on every veranda and people relaxing in their rooms after a nice holiday day.

The very nice location of the taverna between the beach and the swimming pool just gave us the pleasure to end a beautiful day with a Cypriot sweet glass of wine.

Lots of sunny days from Izzy the Cypriot Lizard!
