Kids have Fun in Cyprus: Zigy the new port, Loizos Koumbaris fish tavern and the playground

Zygi is a charming waterfront fishing village located between the large towns of Limassol and Larnaka. Few years ago the local authorities started working on the new port and more improvements on the look of the village were made including the local community park.

With the new port being finished one of the most agreeable activities to do with kids is having a walk trough beautiful fishing boats and yachts.

Zygi has a reputation being the best place where you can eat a Fish Meze. Fish meze is a traditional way of eating various fish platters cooked the Cypriot way so is something that should not be missed for somebody who is coming to Cyprus.

The place that I liked the most is the restaurant of Loizos Koumbaris, the perfect location is just the one the beach were you can enjoy the magnificent sea views. Loizos Koumbaris is a family business starting in 1975 now at the third generation, proving that all these years they gained lots of experience in making their customers welcomed. The restaurant it is know for the fresh food, the cleanliness, and the overuse of the extra virgin olive oil, this being one of the qualities of the Mediterranean “ways of life”(with plenty of lemon… please do not forget).

The restaurant has a very big green area with lots of toys and swings for kids of all ages which can offer you a pleasant family experience. So no matter how long you will be waiting there are lots of things to do for the children.

The Zygi fishermen have the “obligation” to provide fresh fish at the taverna every day and the smell of the cooking food while waiting will rejoice your savors.

I will not forget to mention here the beautiful community park which can be found at the end of the village towards Larnaca on the old road. Don’t miss the sign! It has great swings, a spectacular view of the sea and you can enjoy some refreshments while the kids are playing.
